Tips that may help relieve Meniere's disease.

Since the cause of Meniere's disease is unknown, there is no cure for this disorder, but one can take certain measures to lessen its severity.

  • The first thing to do is read more on Meniere's disease. Collect as much information about this infection and discuss your symptoms with a qualified ENT specialist. Your audiologist will prescribe treatment options for your condition and help you with medication.
  • Basing all views on possible causes of Meniere's disease, sufferers are advised to reduce the amount of salt intake. Excess salt may cause pressure on the nerve endings of balance and hearing. Regular body exercises may straighten lax muscles and ear tissues.
  • Also, tobacco smoke constricts and reduces the flow of blood to and from the blood vessels that nourish the endings of the inner ear nerves. Smoking cause lots of complications in the respiratory system.
  • Foods that contain caffeine such coffee, tea, cola and chocolate also stimulate nerve endings and must be eaten sparingly. If it's not too much trouble to rather have herbal tea instead.
  • You will also need to treat nasal and throat disorders because they may somehow affect the inner ear. Ideally, the Eustachian tube that extends from the nose may swell or get irritated if nasal disorders are not treated. The Eustachian tube connects the back of the nose to the middle ear and allows air to enter behind the eardrum.
